Cinnamon Raisin COMMODORE American Stout
This is pretty cool. I've been struggling to find stouts in the stores, since I guess they're not "in season" during the Summer. The cinnamon and raisin flavours don't dominate this, but they have a welcome presence. There is a nice spice aroma, but then the stout is dark, and burnt, making it much more bitter than I'd expect, almost like a black IPA rather than a stout. But then the spices, with maybe a hint of vanilla, come back in and balance this well. Overall more dry than sweet, which works for me. A good, solid, unique stout! MB-, with the minus only because I might think this is better than it is because I'm craving stout but can't find much. I'll revisit this in the winter for sure to see if it holds up!
