Wells Banana Bread Beer

Years ago I had a wheat beer at Glacier BrewHouse in Anchorage, AK and swore it was like drinking a slice of banana bread, so when I saw this label I had to try it. The aroma of this is 100% banana. This brew is clean and sharp on the tongue with a banana finish at the throat. So it is banana beer, but I'm missing the "bread" flavor wheat could provide, and I think the taste is more "banana flavor" than actual bananas, as the label says both. The Alaskan was certainly the off tones produced by the yeast, and probably not nearly as good as 10 years of memory adds to the legend, but I had hoped for more from this one. Not bad, and doomed from the start at living up to a legend in my mind, but unique enough to be worthy of a taste if you happen upon it in a mood for something different. ID
